Ask Henry

Bob from the US want to buy a Siberian Tiger Shrew and sent us this question!

54"or 56" Siberian Tiger shrew longbow?

Hi Henry,

I have a question about the difference in the two sizes. Since I actually draw 27" would there be a differencein performance and shoot ability between the two bows.  Which would be faster? More consistent for accuracy?  Whichwould you recommend for me?  My shortest bow is 58" both in recurve and longbow.  Thanks for your help!  Bob

First hand information from Henry

I`m a big fan of short bows since I got my hands on a Shrew. Starting to produce the Shrew Bows changed my view about traditional bows completely. Most archers and bowhunters are thinking that short bows are not comfortable and stable. But it`s a big mistake. If you are building the bows on the right way, and the limbs are working how they should work you will be satisfied and suprised how comfortable a short bow could be. Comfortable with no finger pinch!  But to come back to your question!

Clear recommendation from my side:

For your 27" draw length the 52 and 54" Shrew Classic Hunter II will be perfectly smooth and powerfull. I would never use a 56" bow for this draw length. No finger pinch at all because our semi static hybrid limbs are working differently to avoid finger pinch.

Shorter and slimmer limbs are moving faster and we prefer to have slim, short and powerfull limbs. Limbs should move like a rattlesnake in a fight and not like an elephant in the heat of the day. If your main use will be for bowhunting I`m recommend the 52" Classic Hunter II. It`s a powerfull short hunting bow and you will be happy about the extreme arrow speed.

The 52" Shrew Classic Hunter II is a really bad boy!

The 54" bow is a bit smoother and the right choice if your main use will be at 3 d tournaments. I`m using a 54" Shrew with my 30" draw length. Super smooth!

But both bows will satisfy you in the matter of their power and accuracy. The deflex handle of the Shrew bows adding and extra portion of accuracy to every single Shrew Bow.

Hope this will help to take the right decision!
