THE 5th KILL TOURNAMENT IN AUSTRIA - THE FINAL
This was a very special finale!
At all of Henry Bodnik's Kill Tournaments, the final is all about winning the tournament! This is about who will earn the very first place! In addition, there are very attractive cash prizes for the 3 first-place winners in the final, which are provided by the various sponsors of the kill tournament.
1st place is 500 euros
2nd place is 300 euros
3rd place is 100 euros
But before the final was officially started, Henry Bodnik, as always - explained the special rules of this final competition to all finalists and the many spectators in the crowd as well.
Depending on the number of participants in the kill tournament, the top 3-5 scorers from each archery class will qualify for the final. The respective final pairings are then determined by a random drawing from the pool of all finalists!
In the actual final, the bows and arrows are placed on a table. The two opponents then have to run approximately 100 meters to this table where they grab their bows and arrows and get ready to shoot. Then, from the shooting line, each contestant tries to hit and break a balloon that is around 20 meters away positioned in the kill area of a 3-D animal target.
The pressure is intense and if neither participant hits and breaks their balloon within 45 seconds, both are eliminated!
This is always an exciting and strategic competition that is performed right in front of all the other tournament participants and the spectators. Here, everyone can see the top scorers of the tournament doing their best, under great pressure, live and right in front of everyone.
In the second round of this final elimination, there is no longer any time limit.
Enjoy the collection of pictures that we have for you below. They will give you an insight into the sometimes very intense and very emotional moments of our final from the 5th Kill Tournament held in Austria on the beautiful Stub Alm!
THE FINAL - PICTURES SLIDESHOW
This proved to be a very dramatic final, in which many of the top favorites - who had scored the highest scores in the evaluation rounds, were defeated and eliminated from the competition.
In one of the preliminary runs, one of the top scorers, Franz Harg had to admit defeat to participant Timo Döscher, who later won the overall Super Final.
Franz Harg not only won the traditional bow class with his Bodnik Longbow and wooden arrows but also turned in the highest score of anyone in the tournament. Franz is truly a masterful archer who was eliminated from the final here!
Who was the first to "kill" the balloon?
Only that one all-important shot counted!
At the super final, 3 archers faced each other to determine the ultimate 1st place winner!
Timo Döscher, Peter Schweiger and Manfred Rupek all found themselves at the starting gate to compete with each other to see who would win the coveted first place, the tournament victory, and the cash bonus of 500 euros! Timo Döscher was visibly bruised and handicapped as he had apparently strained his calf muscles during the previous run. Timo had caused a little sensation in his previous run when he threw the Austrian champion Franz Harg out of the final with his short Shrew Bow.
In a dramatic final run, Timo pushed through the pain and was able to dominate this super final. He secured 1st place with a super-concentrated shot and as a result, he became the number one winner and the tournament victor of the 5th Kill Tournament in Austria!
1st place and tournament winner: Timo Döscher
